Before I talk about the best office ever, I want to make a real-time update. I am working full-time again doing some business consulting work. There is an intriguing project I couldn’t resist being a part of. However, it has been a bit rough getting back into the working full-time thing. If I had my preference, I would work about 30 hours, but this project as it is start-up is requiring way more than that. Because of that and the fact that we are working on RV projects so we can get back on the road, I have little time to do much else. That means my articles have dropped off a bit. I’ll do one as frequently as I can.
Now back to the best office ever.
Mike needed to have some dedicated time to get some work down. After my sister left, we found a location just outside of Ketchum, Idaho, near Murdock Creek where we had great signal. We started in the Murdock Creek campground for a couple of nights, but then a great boondocking spot opened up. The signal was even better and it was a beautiful place to camp. We ended up staying here the full amount of time we could. About two weeks.
The other wonderful thing about this boondocking campsite was the nice trail that was nearby. I could get up in the morning and go for a nice hike up the Murdock Creek canyon. It was a beautiful hike and I loved it. How amazing to have that kind of a hike right out my door. When we do finally have a house again, I hope that I have the same experience.
It was at this location that we met TJ and Peter from my previous post. It was so great to meet some people who were also full-timers. We had a very nice dinner with them. We attended church in Ketchum a couple of times. The ward was really nice and the church building had really cool wood-framed architecture.
It was also time to connect with family again. We visited my niece and her beautiful family who live in the Meridian, Idaho, area. It was a half-day’s journey to get there, but we had a wonderful time with them. We went to a water park with them and had so much fun playing in the water with the kids. I have always been very impressed with their parenting skills and techniques. Her kids are very well adjusted. And her oldest boy was super brave and tried out some of the more intense water rides. I went with him on one of them. He was really scared but was brave and did it anyway. I was really proud of him.
We also took the opportunity to visit some hot springs on the East Fork of Salmon River called Bowery Hot Springs. It was a nice drive to the hot springs. The hot springs have been built up to be really comfortable. They took an old hot tube and ran the water into it. It was really fun and relaxing. It was just a short hike from the end of the road.
After those hot springs, we decided to go camp at another hot spring called Challis Hot Springs. This is a new favorite place. It was really awesome. It was an RV park and they had two pools. One really hot and the other just a nice temperature. We really enjoyed this place so much. There was great signal so Mike could continue working. He got a lot done by Murdock Creek and at Sawmill Station before we came to Challis. He was able to really get caught up here. We will definitely come back here one day. I neglected to take any pictures here, other than my favorite place to go do yoga. There is a small hiking area on the grounds and it goes out to the river. It was a fantastic place to relax and do my yoga stretching.
How amazing to have our office in the forest for hiking or at a hot springs to go for soak at lunch time or for the evening. After working for the day, you can step outside your RV and enjoy the world around you. I will especially enjoy this over the next few months as I start working again. I love full-time RVing–it is awesome!
